Golf Tournament

The annual Greater Albuquerque Hotel and Lodging Association golf tournament was set up to fund a scholarship program for students pursuing a degree in the Culinary Arts or Hospitality and Tourism Program. These are students attending New Mexico Community College or New Mexico State University. It is the intent of GAIA to assist these students studying for the hospitality industry. The annual golf event attracts about 120 golfers each year to the Santa Ana Golf Club for a day of fun, great food and prizes. This tournament is a fun event for the golf duffer who plays once a year or the every weekend golfer who dreams of being a professional.

Hospitality Games

Albuquerque’s hospitality industry recognizes our employees through the “Hospitality Games”. These games assemble members of the industry in friendly competition in a variety of industry-related games. Some of these games include Shaken Not Stirred, Commode Toss, Traveling Luggage and Table Top Tango.

It is a great opportunity to show appreciation for the hourly employees that do so much in hotels and restaurants to make sure visitors are accommodated and treated well. This is very hard work and goes unnoticed sometimes.

The games raise scholarship money for students at New Mexico State University and Central New Mexico Community College who are interested in hospitality-related careers. The annual games are held at the Albuquerque Convention Center in June of each year. Watch our newsletter for scheduling.

Sponsors have included Pepsi, Dave & Busters, Sysco Foods, Visit ABQ, Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Heads Up Landscaping, Achievement Gallery, The Albuquerque Convention Center, and The New Mexico Rail Runner.  We appreciate this great industry support.

Thanks to our chairwoman Joani Jones and committee!
